About The Role
Tidal Cyber is hiring a Principal Frontend Engineer to own and level up our SaaS frontend as we scale to breakout growth. You’ll be the go-to expert for everything UI: setting direction, making technical decisions, and shipping fast without sacrificing quality. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building from scratch, and wants real ownership over the product experience.
What You'll Do
- Own the frontend architecture and codebase (React), making it scalable, fast, and easy to build on
- Ship features end-to-end with a strong product mindset—balancing speed and quality
- Partner closely with design and product to turn rough ideas into polished user experiences
- Establish lightweight but effective patterns, tooling, and best practices (without over-engineering)
- Identify and pay down tech debt where it matters most
- Mentor engineers and lead by example through hands-on coding and clear thinking
- Help shape engineering culture as we grow the team
What You'll Do
- 8+ years building modern web apps, with deep experience in React and TypeScript
- Strong product instincts—you care about UX as much as the code behind it
- Track record of owning frontend systems in early-stage or high-growth startups
- Ability to move fast, make decisions with imperfect information, and iterate quickly
- Solid understanding of performance, state management, and frontend architecture tradeoffs
- Experience working closely with designers and backend engineers in small, scrappy teams
- Clear communicator who can simplify complexity and bring others along
Location
This is a U.S.-based, remote role. You should be available during core Eastern Time hours and able to travel occasionally to Reston, VA or other sites for team working sessions.
